What is CBD?

Not to be confused with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (cannabidiol) products are a world apart from their molecular counterparts. Although CBD and THC are both derived from the same plants (cannabis & hemp), their origins are where most similarities end.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a natural non-intoxicating compound derived from the hemp plant, which helps balance our body’s endocannabinoid system. All animals (humans included) have an endocannabinoid system that helps regulate a host of bodily functions, including memory, mood, appetite, pain and other immune system responses. Our bodies produce compounds called endocannabinoids that interact with receptors in this system (primarily CB1 and CB2) to keep things in balance.

Using a CBD product helps maintain your hard-working endocannabinoid system  and may potentially, reduce inflammation, or relax the body and focus the mind.

How does CBD make you feel?

Depending on what your body needs and why you’re taking CBD, your experience may  differ from everyone else. But as far as consuming CBD or applying it to your body, you shouldn’t necessarily expect to feel anything at all.

A Sense of peace and calmness

Many individuals report that CBD does help soften anxiety, and they feel a sense of inner peace and calmness. Preclinical evidence has found that CBD may be an effective way to manage multiple anxiety disorders.

Reduced pain and inflammation

Relief from muscle pain and inflammation is often one of the main reasons people turn away from traditional solutions to CBD products like CBD oils or body balms, and there are a couple of reasons for this. 

Firstly, the findings of multiple systematic research concluded there was enough evidence showing the effectiveness of CBD as a treatment for muscle soreness in adults, plus there is little chance for people to develop a tolerance for CBD. 

Secondly, CBD oils or topicals can be applied directly to the affected joints and sore muscles, aiding body repair and muscle recovery.

Improved sleep

The use of CBD to aid sleep dates as far back as 1200 A.D., where an ancient Chinese medical text refers to its benefits for inducing sleep. However, while CBD can impact sleep positively, it may be serving-size dependent, according to the latest research. Studies have found that lower servings stimulate, increasing wakefulness, whereas higher doses have a sedative effect.

Most CBD consumers report a better night’s sleep when they take their supplements regularly. They find the use of oils, gummies, or capsules help stop their mind from racing while they fall asleep and let them say goodbye to tossing and turning for good.


Staying focussed

Not being able to stay focused can be both frustrating and discouraging as it will affect your day-to-day life. But the great thing about CBD is that it has the propensity to improve your focus. Possible side effects

Medication Interactions

Research has suggested that certain steroids, antihistamines, antibiotics, antidepressants, beta-blockers, NSAIDs, and blood thinners can, in certain instances, have an adverse effect on CBD products.
